In part 2, humanity began it’s trek into the stars. Seriously, that was not supposed to be a pun. In today’s installment, we’re a quarter of the way to the Year 10,000 and humanity is further embracing interstellar travel and colonization, while the galaxy plays a game of musical North Star’s.
2500 A.D.: Mars is completely terraformed, allowing human’s to live on the planet without aid.
2600 A.D.: Most plastics have disappeared.
2640 A.D.: Performance of the musical piece Organ^2/ASLSP (As SLow aS Possible), that started in 2001, will come to an end.
2650 A.D.: Around September 3, the distance between Earth and Mars will reach a new remarkable minimum of 55,651,582,118 km.
2700 A.D.: If the process had begun around the same time as Mars, Venus would be terraformed.
2729 A.D.: Around September 8, the distance between Earth and Mars will reach a new remarkable minimum of 55,651,033,122 km.
2880 A.D.: It’s predicted that on March 16, asteroid (29075) 1950 DA, the near-Earth object with the highest known probability of crashing into Earth, could collide with Earth.
Sometime in the 29th Century: Radiation levels in the areas affected by the Chernobyl disaster are expected to return to levels safe for human habitation again.
2968 A.D.: The last of the four capsules in the Helium Centennial Time Columns Monument in Amarillo, TX is scheduled to be opened.
2999 A.D.: The Time Capsule in Chinook Center in Calgary, Canada is scheduled to open on December 31, 2999 after being sealed in the year 2000, and the song Longplayer will end, having started on January 1, 2000.
Sometime in the 31st Century: Under a high emissions scenario, global sea levels will have risen 6.8 meters.
3000 A.D.: Due to the precession of the equinoxes, Gamma Cephei will be the North Star until 5200 A.D.
3117 A.D.: According to physicist Andrew Kennedy, this is the minimum time in which humanity could reach Bernard’s Star, assuming an annual economic growth rate (and corresponding increase in power output) of 1.4% from 2007.
3183 A.D.: The Time Pyramid, a public work of art in Wemding, Germany is scheduled to be completed.
3500 A.D.: According to Tzedakis, this is the et al. by which Earth will have entered a new glacial maximum.
4000-4800 A.D.: During this time (since calculations vary between astrologers), the 2,158 year long Age of Aquarius will end and the Age of Capricorn will begin.
4385 A.D.: The Comet Hale-Bopp reenters the inner solar system for the first time since 1996.
4876 A.D.: The Great Comet of 1811 reenters the inner solar system for the first time since 1811.
5200 A.D.: Iota Cephei will replace Gamma Cephei as the North Star. Also at this time, Humanity becomes a Type-II civilization, able to harness all of the energy of the sun.
5366 A.D.: On August 27, Venus will occult Aldebaran. This marks the first planetary occultation of Aldebaran since July 15, 18,980 B.C.
7138 A.D.: On May 3, the 14th bak’tun of the Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar will end. It started on December 21, 2012.
7800 A.D.: Humanity becomes a Type-III civilization, harnessing all of the energy of the galaxy.
8113 A.D.: On May 28, the Crypt of Civilization, a time capsule at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia, will be opened.
