Atlanta Police served a no-knock warrant to the home of 92-year-old Katherine Johnson, who lived in a sketchy part of Atlanta. When the officers broke into her home, Mrs. Johnson assumed they were burglars and she shot above their heads. The officers fired 39 shots at her, of which only five or six hit.
Following the shooting, the officers planted marijuana in her house. The marijuana planted was found to be fraudulent, as were the officers claims they had purchased cocaine from the house previously.
In this case, the officers involved did serve time in prison, convicted of manslaughter and falsifying evidence.
